SDCC 2023 is about to get animated. Max made a pit stop at the hallowed geek event to reveal sneak peeks and surprises from their upcoming animation slate. Panelists included Adventure Time: Fionna and Cake showrunner Adam Muto and supervising director Ryann Shannon, Young Love series creator/executive producer Matthew A. Cherry and supervising director Mark Davis and Harley Quinn supervising producers Cecilia Aranovich Hamilton and Ian Hamilton. TV Guide Magazine‘s Damian Holbrook moderated the proceedings.
Adventure Time: Fionna and Cake
Get ready for more Adventure Time shenanigans. Max’s new animated series, Adventure Time: Fionna and Cake, dives into the story of Fionna and her magical best friend/talking cat, Cake, as they explore the mysterious land of Ooo. The Max Original Animation panel unveiled the official trailer and key art for the highly anticipated latest installment in the Adventure Time franchise, which you can check out below.
Adventure Time: Fionna and Cake stars Madeleine Martin as Fionna and Roz Ryan as Cake. Experience the magic when the series premieres its first two episodes on August 31, 2023, only on Max.

Young Love
Young Love is “an honest look into the world of the Young family – including millennial parents Stephen and Angela, their daughter Zuri and her pet cat Rocky – as they juggle their careers, marriage, parenthood, social issues, and multi-generational dynamics all while striving to make a better life for themselves.” It’s based on the Academy Award-winning short film Hair Love (which you can watch here) by Matthew A. Cherry.
Members of the all-star voice cast include Issa Rae as the voice of Angela, Scott “Kid Cudi” Mescudi as Stephen, Loretta Devine, Harry Lennix, Tamar Braxton and Brooke Monroe Conaway. The animated comedy will premiere in the fall of 2023.
You can watch the official clip from Young Love below.
Harley Quinn
Harley’s joining the Bat Family. SDCC 2023 blessed fans with a new trailer for Harley Quinn Season 4, giving them a taste of what to expect when the series returns this summer. With Bruce Wayne behind bars, Harley fills that void in the Bat Family alongside Nightwing, Batgirl and Robin. Alfred, bereft of purpose with his master out of the picture, trains Harley on how to be a hero. Meanwhile, Ivy forms her version of the Legion of Doom, with King Shark working in the organization’s IT department.

Additionally, we learned that Season 4 will present us with a better version of Nightwing’s ass (a plus) and a DC Comics character from the ’80s: Snowflame. Snowflame’s powers are derived from snorting cocaine. I wouldn’t expect anything less.
Harley Quinn stars Kaley Cuoco, Lake Bell, Alan Tudyk, Ron Funches, J.B. Smoove, Tony Hale and Christopher Meloni. Brace yourselves for Harlivy in the workplace when the series premieres its first three episodes on July 27, 2023.
