During SDCC 2022 on Friday, Tim Miller took to the stage during Collider’s Directors on Directing panel to share news on his upcoming adaptation of The Goon. The adaptation is based on the comic series created by Eric Powell. The feature will be made at Netflix with director Patrick Osborne. Miller shared that Powell has been working closely with Osborne to pen the script. He also shared that this project has been in the works for nearly 12 years, so it’s great to see that things are starting to get moving for everyone involved.

Powell’s The Goon follows a hulking orphan raised by his aunt, who served as a strong woman in a carnival. When a gangster, Labrazio, murders his aunt, the goon gets his revenge and takes over the whole operation. The ongoing series mixes a bit of comedy with a violent atmosphere that features bits and pieces of supernatural themes. The Goon has gone up against undead creatures, zombies, ghosts, mutants, skunk-apes, and so many more.

Miller didn’t share much on how The Goon would be adapted. We’re currently unsure if he is going to do a live-action feature or something similar to his Love Death + Robots. Hopefully, now that Miller has landed on Netflix and Osborne directing, production will pick up quickly. And with production comes more news. Who is going to play The Goon? And will this be an origin story, or will he pick up later in the series? We’ve got a lot of questions that need to be answered.

Make sure to keep your eyes peeled going forward for all news on Miller’s The Goon. Who would you want to play the hulking supernatural fighting orphan? Let us know in the comments below and on social media!
