It’s time to dive into the fabled Second Age of Middle-earth history. On Friday, July 22, 2022, the cast and creators of Prime Video’s The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power touched down at SDCC 2022, bringing a twist of fantasy into the geeky fold.

So, who from the highly anticipated series blessed Comic-Con with their ethereal presence? Cast members Morfydd Clark, Charles Edwards, Rob Aramayo, Benjamin Walker, Ismael Cruz Córdova, Charlie Vickers, Nazanin Boniadi, Tyroe Muhafidin, Daniel Weyman, Cynthia Addai-Robinson, Trystan Gravelle, Maxim Baldry, Ema Horvath, Lloyd Owen, Leon Wadham, Markella Kavenagh, Megan Richards, Dylan Smith, Sara Zwangobani, Sophia Nomvete and Owain Arthur, along with showrunners JD Payne, Patrick McKay and EP Lindsey Weber.

However, the panel’s not the only thing we got! Amazon Studios unleashed an epic SDCC-edition trailer of heroic proportions, with stunning visuals and an immersive score.

Undoubtedly, my favorite part of the trailer is the mention of Sauron. Call me a simpleton, but references like that make me grin from ear to ear.

I’d say this trailer for The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power is leagues better than the two teasers, depicting the massive scope and breadth of Middle-earth with, let’s face it, Amazon Studios’ bottomless budget. I felt like I was in Middle-earth. Plus, a wealth of material from J.R.R. Tolkien is ripe for exploration, providing context to the later chapters we’ve already seen adapted for the screen.
