Ronald D. Moore, one of For All Mankind‘s creators, announced the renewal towards the end of Friday’s panel. He told Deadline “I’m thrilled that we get to keep going forward in this amazing story…Right from the beginning it was my hope that it would be a long, multi-year journey. It’s gratifying to see what we’ve done and I’m looking forward to seeing what we can do in the future.” Creator Matt Wolpert added “I couldn’t be more excited to continue evolving our show into the 2000s in Season 4.”

This time jump doesn’t come as much of a surprise; season one began in 1969, with season two starting in 1983 and season three moving into the 1990s. Starring Joel Kinnaman and Krys Marshall, For All Mankind imagines a past in which the Soviet Union beat the United States to the Moon, extending the space race for decades and completely altering history. Additional cast members include Wrenn Schmidt and Jodi Balfour.

Production on For All Mankind season four is set to begin next month. Aside from the 2000s setting, we don’t know anything about where the new season will take us. Season 3, which is currently streaming, features a three-way space race to Mars. Keep an eye out here for more updates as they come in!
