As more news comes streaming out of Hall H at SDCC 2022, Daredevil fans got a fantastic surprise! The new series is titled Daredevil: Born Again, and Charlie Cox is again donning the devil suit. Vincent D’Onofrio will reprise his role as Wilson Fisk/Kingpin.
Cox first took on the mantle of The Man Without Fear in the 2016 Netflix show Daredevil. The show served as a launching point for an entire series of more mature superhero sagas. Other titles on the list were Jessica Jones, Iron Fist and Luke Cage.
After the series ended with Season 3, many fans clamored for Cox to return to the role. That wish was granted in 2022’s Spider-Man: No Way Home when he made a brief appearance as Daredevil’s alter-ego Matt Murdock. Cox and D’Onofrio will appear as their respective characters in the upcoming Disney Plus series Echo. Additionally, it was revealed during the Marvel animation panel on Friday that Cox will voice the Red Devil in Spider-Man: Freshman Year, slated to hit Disney Plus in 2024.
The title “Born Again” refers to the comic book story arc by the same name from 1986. The storyline began in Daredevil issues 227-231. Frank Miller wrote the stories, and David Mazzucchelli provided the artwork.
According to Kevin Feige’s announcement during Saturday’s panel, Daredevil: Born Again will air with 18 episodes in the Spring of 2024. The series will stream on Disney Plus alongside new titles such as She-Hulk and Echo.
