It seems like every season, The Walking Dead survivors are in a fight for their lives. Season 11 will be no different but sometimes the enemy is inside the home. The first trailer for the long final season of The Walking Dead debuted at SDCC @ Home 2021. Looks like we’re in for a wild ride.

One major theme from the new TWD trailer includes Maggie’s (Lauren Cohan) unfinished business with Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan). Like it or not, she has to co-exist with the man who killed her husband. This storyline was the focal point of a couple of season 10C episodes. Maggie is very weary of Negan. And she told all of her new people about him and what he did. She’s even got Daryl (Norman Reedus) giving Negan the side eye. In the trailer, Negan is trying really hard to get on Maggie’s good side. He attempted to leave Alexandria, but he returned, determined to find a way to live with her.
Eugene (Josh McDermitt), Ezekiel (Khary Peyton), Yumiko (Eleanor Matsuura), and Princess (Paola Lopez) are being held by the soldiers of the Commonwealth. And no one has any idea what they are in for. We’ve seen new character Mercer (Michael James Shaw) in a teaser. In this TWD trailer, Mercer and his soldiers are throwing Eugene around. I’m a little scared for our friends to arrive at the Commonwealth.
We will finally see what happened to Connie (Lauren Ridloff). The last time we saw her, she was found in the woods by none other than Virgil (Kevin Carroll). In the trailer, they appear to be encountering more danger of their own. I’m so ready for Connie to be reunited with Kelly (Angel Theory).
And then there are the Reapers. We don’t know much about these people. They are hunting Maggie and her group down and that puts everyone in Alexandria in danger. There is an attack on Alexandria as we see Aaron (Ross Marquand), Jerry (Cooper Andrews), Judith (Cailey Fleming), and others fighting to keep everyone safe. At the same time, Maggie, Daryl, and others are fighting in a tunnel of some sort, trying to stay alive.
The first eight TWD episodes appear to be about survival. I’m just hoping for as little casualties as possible. Check out the trailer below.
The Walking Dead season 11 premieres on AMC on August 22.
