With the traditional San Diego International Comic Con cancelled, the organization is going ahead with a virtual event. Comic Con At Home set for the same dates as SDCC, July 22-26, 2020. And the event is FREE!
SDCC spokesperson David Glanzer said, “For the first time in our 50-year history, we are happy to welcome virtually anyone from around the globe. Though stay-at-home conditions makes this a very difficult time, we see this as an opportunity to spread some joy and strengthen our sense of community.”
SDCC has more than just television and movie fandoms. They also include comic books, literature, gaming, art and so much more. Exact details about how they plan to present everything is still up in the air. The organizers plan to lay out their plans in the weeks to come.
Fans should keep an eye on the Comic Con website, the official Comic-Con and WonderCon blog Toucan, SDCC’s social channels, and the official channels of their favorite pop culture creators for more details to come. Fans can also follow the hashtag #ComicConAtHome for information and to be included in activities.
We will definitely keep an eye on the details and pass that along as information comes available. Will you be participating in the SDCC virtual event? Let us know what you think about the Comic Con At Home event in the comments.
