A loner has his world turned upside in The Witcher. Based off the books by Andrzej Sapkowski, Netflix has given us our first look at the fantasy series with their debut trailer. Geralt of Rivia is a loner, outcast among humanity for his occupation – monster hunting. When he runs into a princess and a sorceress – he’s pulled into an adventure he was never expecting.

The trailer starts off with Geralt walking in a dirty, run down village. We’re then taken on a history lesson. Elves held the power of magic – they even taught it to humanity. Once humanity learned this magic though, they slaughtered the Elves. Now chaos runs rampant in the Continent. We’re shown Yennefer going through training to become one of the most powerful sorceresses ever. Meanwhile, Princess Ciri becomes a fixation. She has an immense power she doesn’t quite understand. Power that others want to have. In order for her to survive, though, she needs to find Geralt of Rivia.

This trailer is incredibly promising! It looks so exciting with drama, action, fantasy, violence – the works! The very few monsters we see also look terrifying. I’m really looking forward to seeing more. In fact, I’m gonna replay the trailer a few times!
