SDCC 2019: THE EXPANSE Has an Otherworldly New Teaser and S4 Premiere Date

Big news for The Expanse fans. From San Diego Comic Con premiere date and new trailer for Season 4 which will have its first season on Amazon Prime! We also got a full clip from the episode which will premiere December 12, 2019.

The book in The Expanse series that this season is based on, Cibola Burn, is an intense ride. It takes place on Ilus which means a little less outer space but don’t worry, there’s still plenty of science fiction. Humans are going through the ring gates and colonizing. And you know whenever humans colonize, bad things happen.  It’s basically a futuristic gold rush.

Ilus is one of those planets on the other side which is being colonized and has mineral that folks in power want. This mean that the Belters are once again shoved aside. Humans can’t avoid their nature and they are fighting over it with the Belters ending up with the short stick.  And of course, the Rocinante and its crew — Holden (Steven Strait), Alex (Cas Anvar), Naomi (Dominique Tipper) and Amos (Wes Chatham) — end up there.

The planet is perfectly habitable for humans but it’s also covered in ancient alien tech. The mysterious kind. The kind that aliens who invented the protomolecule made.

We’re going to have coverage and an extensive look at all things The Expanse from SDCC 2019 coming at you. For now, enjoy the trailer and the clip. You’ll see all of our favorite characters plus some new folks.

When watching

  • Take a look at the beards. There are so many.
  • Take a look at Naomi. She’s never been planet-side where there’s full Earth-like gravity so this is a big deal for her. But she’s also in pain and struggling
  • The planet looks odd and alien of course. It also looks like it may be rejecting their human inhabitants
  • We meet our new big bad, Burn Gorman
  • Ashford! (David Strathairn
  • Drummer! (Cara Gee)
  • Avasarala! (Shohreh Aghdashloo
  • Bobby!  (Frankie Adams
  • Why can’t humans just get along?
  • The clip shows the Roci landing on Ilus. It looks great
  • We Naomi excited but struggling with the gravity
  • Good to see that the fam is still together

With the Ring Gates now open to thousands of new planets, a blood-soaked gold rush begins, igniting new conflicts between Earth, Mars, and the Belt. Meanwhile, on one unexplored planet, the Rocinante crew gets caught in a violent clash between an Earth mining corporation and desperate Belter settlers as deadly new threats from the protomolecule emerge.
