The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance makes it’s debut at San Diego Comic Con with some key voices of the series. The series is the prequel to the 1982 movie The Dark Crystal, about a young Gelfling sent on a quest to heal the Crystal and restore balance to the world. Thirty-seven years later, we return to that world to find out how and why the Gelflings disappeared. There’s a brand new poster for the series you can view below!

The Panel consisted of Mark Hamill, Taron Egerton, Louis Leterrier, and Lisa Henson.

Hamill got a huge reception when he came onstage.

The panel featured some behind the scenes footage of making the show featuring Henson and Leterrier. We learned Leterrier directed every episode. They copied the original puppets from the 1982 movie The Dark Crystal. There are no CGI characters – they are all puppets. Henson says she is very proud of this project more so than anything since her father, Jim Henson passed away.

Egerton plays a Gelfling named Rian. He says he was enchanted by the first film because it was completely unlike anything else. He loves the “freaky, dark edge” of the story.

Hamill voices a Skeksis called The Scientist. Apparently…and this may be a joke…but there is a model of a TIE Fighter with Darth Vader inside, in The Scientist’s eye. Hamill also says he loves doing voice over because “you’re really liberated to make bold choices you can’t when a camera is on you.”

Even though they both appeared in the Kingsman, they never met and that was heartbreaking for Egerton. He was geeking out over Hamill because “He’s Luke f***ing Skywalker!”

Hamill did a Kermit the Frog impression and then gave the audience a preview of The Scientist.

The panel ended with the premiere episode of the series.

The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance features the voices of Egerton, Hamill, Anya Taylor-JoyNathalie Emmanuel, Jason Isaacs, Simon Pegg, and many more.
