Exciting news happening out of the Arrowverse today. According to Deadline, actor Brandon Routh will be returning to play the big boy scout in blue for the upcoming Arrowverse crossover event. While that immediately brings up many, many questions, here’s what we know about it so far.
13 years after donning the cape for the first time, Routh will once again be playing Clark Kent and his heroic alter ego in the Crisis on Infinite Earths crossover. Tyler Hoechlin will also be reprising his role as the Man of Steel for the event. What does this mean for our heroes? Is he a good Superman or a bad Superman? Unfortunately those details are being kept under wraps. What we do know is that they’ll both be playing Superman at “different time frames”. We’ll likely be learning more about what that means during the SDCC Arrowverse panels scheduled on Saturday.
The biggest question I have is – will they play on the fact that Routh’s character Ray Palmer/The Atom on Legends of Tomorrow will look exactly like Superman? Looking forward to that interaction. In all honesty, I really enjoy this. Superman Returns is not the most well received film but Routh did the best he could with what he had. He was a pretty good Superman! It’s going to be great to see him don the suit once more and flash a winning smile.
