The yet-unnamed villain from the forthcoming Steven Universe movie

If you missed being at the Steven Universe panel live, you can find the most important news about Steven Universe: The Movie below. The one thing we can’t replicate here is the experience of seeing Estelle (Garnet) or series creator Rebecca Sugar performing songs from the movie live. Fortunately, Cartoon Network captured a little bit of their performances for you to enjoy here!

In addition to Estelle and Rebecca Sugar, Shelby Rabara (Peridot), Michaela Dietz (Amethyst) and Deedee Magno Hall (Pearl) were on hand to talk about the movie, show the trailer for the first time and accept thanks from a teary audience for their dedication to representation.

What we learned:

  • Deedee Magno Hall loved the memes from last season’s finale.
  • Sardonyx wouldn’t have necessarily known Rose Quartz’s true identity just because Pearl knew, because fusions are individuals and would only know what their component gems wanted to bring to them.
  • Steven Universe: The Movie will air on Cartoon Network September 2nd at 6:00 p.m.!
  • Estelle wrote a song for the movie.
  • The movie is a full-on musical.
  • Look for more Gem/human interactions in the future now that the corrupted Gems are healed.
  • A behind-the-scenes documentary about the making of the movie will be released at the same time as the movie.
  • Cartoon Network will show a week-long Steven Universe marathon in the lead-up to the movie.

Love Steven’s new t-shirt? You can pre-order it now from Cartoon Network!

Watch Estelle’s performance of “True Kind of Love,” a single from the movie that is available for download now and will be on the full soundtrack September 3:
