The new trailer for TBS’s television adaptation for Snowpiercer rolled through San Diego Comic-Con today. The new series is based on the French graphic novel Le Transperceneige but it seems to be more of a reboot of the film starring Chris Evans and directed by Boon Joon-ho.
This isn’t a bad thing. The material is dense and should lend itself well to a series adaptation. The trailer is sleek, visually stunning, packed with tension and of course, cold. Very cold. It’s a common science fiction tale of haves and the have-nots. The world froze seven years ago and the train, Snowpiercer, carries the last 3000 humans on Earth. The train perpetually circles the globe and the passengers aboard must live in a caste-type system. where the ones living in the back of the train live in poverty and toil so the passengers in the front of the train can live luxurious lives.
Until, the revolution.
