It’s official. NOS4A2 will return to AMC with season two of the vampire hit series! The announcement was made Saturday at the show’s San Diego Comic Con panel. The cast and creators were on hand to talk about make-up and the ultimate showdown between Charlie Manx (Zachary Quinto) and Vic McQueen (Ashleigh Cummings).

The panel consists of stars Zachary Quinto, Ashleigh Cummings with EPs Joe Hill and Jami O’Brien.

Based on a book by Hill, the story centers on Vic McQueen, a young woman with a supernatural ability and Charlie Manx, an immortal being who feeds on children. Vic must find a way to defeat Manx or fall victim to his seductive charm. Season one had 10 episodes with the season finale airing this Sunday.

O’Brien announced season two with Hill joking that it will be titled, “NOS4A2: Electric Boogaloo”

Quinto said he initially turned down the role. But then he read the scripts and was immediately drawn to the character of Charlie Manx. He also had a good connection with O’Brien and didn’t want to miss out on “a unique and creative opportunity.” He said Manx genuinely believes he is salvation for the vampire children. He also noted that it takes about an hour and a half to four hours to put him in Manx’s make up. And about twenty-five minutes to take it off. Cummings added by saying the first time she saw Quinto in full makeup, he was wearing an Adidas track suit and Airpods. She called it “a Spike Jonze moment.”

Cummings also admitted to being a little concerned about being in a horror show, saying “Horror is accessible, it hooks you in with your primal fears and emotions.”

They talked about the children in the show and making sure they were comfortable in their roles and with the content. Hill added that “we want to psychologically destroy you, not [the child actors.]”

O’Brien talked briefly about Ólafur Darri Ólafsson who plays Bing. She called him the Hamlet of Iceland. Jahkara Smith, who plays Maggie, has a YouTube channel where she posted satirical makeup tutorials. O’Brien was impressed with her videos.

Quinto looked forward to the future saying there so much from the books that the show hasn’t touched yet. He’s happy to return next season.

The audience asked who their favorite vampires were. O’Brien likes Anne Rice‘s vampires. Hill, Quinto and Cumming like the kid vampire from Let the Right One In.

O’Brien hinted there is a showdown for the rest of the season. Quinto called it hot. But Hill says the season can’t end without a live stage musical.
