Some interesting things happened on Fear the Walking Dead’s first half of season five.  Daniel Salazar (Rubén Blades) returned, Dwight (Austin Amelio) from Virginia  joined the group, and Alicia (Alycia Debnam-Carey) might have poisoned herself by killing too many walkers. It’s a good thing Morgan (Lennie James) is there to keep everyone together.

The group is on their way home with some new friends.  But is that home still there? Will the group encounter Logan (Matt Frewer) again? Will Al ever see Isabelle (Sydney Lemmon)?

The Panel: Alycia Debnam-Carey, Lennie James,Colman Domingo, Jenna Elfman, Danay Garcia, Maggie Grace, Alexa Nisenson, Austin Amelio, Karen David, Rubén Blades. Scott M. Gimple, Andrew Chambliss, Ian Goldberg, Robert Kirkman, Gale Anne Hurd, Dave Alpert, Greg Nicotero and Michael Satrazemis. Moderated by Chris Hardwick

Highlights from the showrunners and producers include the announcement of three new cast members coming to Fear TWD, including Colbie Minifie from Jessica Jones.  Gimple announces Fear TWD has been renewed for season six. As for what to expect, he says there have been other civilizations who have survived the apocalypse, which we’ll see in a lot of other. The new show will also cover this aspect

The fun begins when the cast comes on stage.

Grace loved her single episode with Lemmon. Says it was an honor and a pleasure to shoot it.

Elfman is afraid of what will happen to June if she can’t find John (Garret Dillahunt).  Dillahunt is currently filming Army of the Dead right now, so he couldn’t be there.  The cast put an interesting photo of him on stage though.

This is David and Nisenson’s first Comic Con appearance. David says she did a lot of research on nuclear scientists.  Says Grace wants to protect her new friends from the fate of her old friends.  Nisenson’s favorite scene was the hot air balloon scene with Domingo.

Blades thanks the fans for Daniel. He knows his mission is to help others, but if you cross him, he will kill you. As for Skidmark…Blades says Skidmark is in Europe at a cat convention. He wanted Salazar to have a companion, but since Daryl has a dog he asked for a cat. He says there is a stunt cat too. Says he is a great cat that follows orders. “You have made him a star.”

Amelio says he geeked out to work with Dillahunt and Elfman.  He especially loves the western feel of the show.

Debnam-Carey says Alicia isn’t ready for a relationship. Alicia needs someone to feel safe and has never felt that way, even before things fell apart. She always had to be a protector. She would like Alicia to feel some happiness and lightness. When asked who Alicia trusts the most, Debnam-Carey says she’s been with Strand and Luciana the longest, but also appreciates how Morgan keeps her going.

Elfman was asked if June and John would have a baby. She says June is good as is

Interesting tid bit, Amelio and James’ first scene together was this season of Fear TWD.

When asked what Morgan would do if he found out Rick was missing, James said he would go looking for him.  He adds that Morgan defines himself based on Rick and would do anything to help, even if it means walking back

The show runners promise to have Blades sing on the show before the end of the season.  Blades hopes he gets bitten so he can go back on tour.

Goldberg says episode 509 was filmed differently than other episodes.  They will be catching up with the group, “just like The Office.”  He also confirms they are not on the same timeline as The Walking Dead.
