SDCC 2018: SUPERNATURAL Is About to Hit a Major Milestone in Season 14

Supernatural

Supernatural took over Hall H at San Diego Comic-Con on Sunday morning with a panel hosted by celestial moderators Richard Speight Jr. (Gabriel) and Rob Benedict (God/Chuck). The SPN family finally got some insight into what’s going on with our beloved Dean-turned-Michael and who else might make it back for Season 14.

OG cast members Jared Padalecki (Sam), Jensen Ackles (Dean) and Misha Collins (Castiel) were joined by their new cast member and first-time panelist Alexander Calvert (Jack). The cast was also joined by show runners Robert Singer and Andrew Dabb, and executive producers Eugenie Ross-Leming and Brad Buckner.

The panel kicked off with an announcement that not only is Supernatural still the longest running Sci-fi TV show in the history of American television, but the show will hit a very rare milestone of 300 episodes in the coming season. And what do they plan to do for this big event? Apparently, only Dabb knows. When asked about the milestone episode, Singer admitted that while he is directing the 300th episode, even he has no idea what it’ll be. Dabb is keeping that secret completely to himself — and that’s not the only thing.

The fate of Dean/Michael is still wildly up in the air. While we didn’t find out too much about where Dean will be in the new season, fans were treated to a Season 14 clip featuring Dean/Michael interrogating a human. Dabb later revealed that since, in this universe, Michael has no angels to rely on, part of his plan includes recruiting new allies to his side. We can gather that perhaps Michael needs some humans to fill his ranks as he attempts to purify the planet.

We also got some hints about other familiar faces we could expect to see returning in Season 14. While Benedict (as usual) poked at Dabb to see if the character of God would return, Dabb listed Rowena (played by Ruth Connell), Jody Mills (played by Kim Rhodes) and a slew of other Wayward Sisters among the returning cast.

And much to the delight of the entire hall, the panel ended as usual with a delightful gag reel from Season 13. The SPN cast might break our hearts every now and then, but behind the scenes they’re all a bunch of goofs.

Supernatural returns to the CW on October 11, 2018.
