Godzilla: King of the Monsters is coming. During the week, the King awoke and was swimming towards SDCC in order to drop the trailer. Just kidding! Mostly. The trailer is a look at what would happen to Earth when the Titans are all awake and roaming. And let’s just say there’s not a lot of good things.

The planet has changed. Since Godzilla rose, the other Titans have been awakening as well. A voiceover tells us that finding them all is essential to our survival as they are the original and rightful rulers of this world. Humans are, essentially, helpless against them. We have chaotic shots of Rodan rising from a volcano, Mothra spreading its beautiful, large wing, a facility being electrocuted by an off screen King Ghidorah. The Titans have been woken up and Godzilla will be there to stop their tyranny. Or will he?

I really enjoyed the the trailer. Though, admittedly, having the classical music over it was a little jarring. It was almost hopeful sounding while we have images of lava destroying a town. But, it did make me majorly pumped to see all these kaiju on screen together, it’s gonna be a blast! Sadly, we don’t get to see King Ghidorah in his full glory. But boy is his presence known!

Check out the trailer below and let us know what you think! Be sure to come back to Geek Girl Authority for more kaiju fun!

Following the global success of “Godzilla” and “Kong: Skull Island” comes the next chapter in Warner Bros. Pictures’ and Legendary Pictures’ cinematic MonsterVerse, an epic action adventure that pits Godzilla against some of the most popular monsters in pop culture history. The new story follows the heroic efforts of the crypto-zoological agency Monarch as its members face off against a battery of god-sized monsters, including the mighty Godzilla, who collides with Mothra, Rodan, and his ultimate nemesis, the three-headed King Ghidorah. When these ancient super-species—thought to be mere myths—rise again, they all vie for supremacy, leaving humanity’s very existence hanging in the balance.

Godzilla: King of the Monsters storms theaters May 31, 2019.
