SDCC 2018: GLASS Trailer Brings the Extraordinary Together

Erin Lynch

When Split came out, no one knew it would continue into a larger universe created. And now, here we are. Our first trailer for Glass has come out during SDCC and it is creepy! The M. Night Shymalan film will bring his Unbreakable film together with Split to pit these characters against one another.

Dr. Ellie Staple (Sarah Paulson) is really happy to meet them. She’s a psychiatrist that specializes in delusions of grandeur and treats patients who believe they’re superhuman. David Dunn (Bruce Willis) was the only survivor of the train crash. He can bend metal, isn’t effected by bullets and can sense crimes people committed by touching them. Kevin Wendell Crumb also known as The Horde (James McAvoy) is a man suffering with dissociative identity disorder with at least 24 different identities. One of those being a superhuman monster known as The Beast. And finally Elijah Price aka Mr. Glass (Samuel L. Jackson), a mass murderer Type I osteogenesis imperfecta. Locked up in a facility together, things are about to go horribly for David as The Beast and Mr. Glass team up. What will they unleash upon the world together?

I’m very much intrigued by this film. Given that I’m a big superhero fan, seeing it taken in a new direction like this is always exciting. And I really like that they’re introducing an element of extreme doubt. Usually we just accept that the person has superhuman powers but not here. It’s fascinating. Though, I have to admit, seeing The Beast “run” was a bit hilarious. I’m worried that his team up with Mr. Glass will cause a lot of casualties. Will David be able to stop them?

Following the conclusion of Split, Glass finds Dunn pursuing Crumb’s superhuman figure of The Beast in a series of escalating encounters, while the shadowy presence of Price emerges as an orchestrator who holds secrets critical to both men.

The film is written and directed by Shymalan. Starring Bruce Willis, Samuel L. Jackson, James McAvoy, Sarah Paulson, Anya Taylor-Joy, Spencer Treat Clark and Charlayne Woodard.

Glass comes to theaters January 18, 2019.
