Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald opened the SDCC 2018 panel with a bang. (Get the details from the panel, here!) Creating magic with bands and so much more. But the big highlight was a brand new trailer of the film. There’s more beasts, more magic and so much more action waiting in store for us.

The trailer is amazing! We have Newt at Hogwarts, as Dumbledore teaches Defense Against the Dark Arts (not Transfiguration, curiously). Newt fears having to work at a desk job for his life – which, I don’t blame him one bit. But things turn serious quickly as we’re transported to the sinister looking circus. Grindelwald has made his way there to find someone. Who? More than likely the unnamed Maledictus. He’s building an army of followers who believe Muggles are lesser than them.

We have brand new beasts including big-eyed cat monsters, a beast that looks like a pink Falcor with more teeth and so, so much action — including a blue flame dragon spell that looks incredible. It’s going to take everyone teaming together to defeat the rising threat of Grindelwald. Will they be able to? Leta tells Newt what I’ve been thinking all along. “You’re too good, Newt. You never met a monster you couldn’t love.” The showstopper at the end? Meeting Nicholas Flammel.

Jude Law is perfect as Dumbledore. I love in the trailer when he leaves Newt on his own after telling him he’s the only one that can do it. I genuinely cannot wait for more from this film. It’s gonna be so much fun and it’s gonna blow our socks away. You MUST see the trailer below and let us know what you think!

They even debuted a new poster featuring Nicholas Flammel!

The film is directed by David Yates and written by the queen herself, J.K. Rowling. It stars Eddie Redmanye , Katherine Waterston, Jude LawDan Fogler, Alison Sudol, Ezra Miller, Zoë KravitzCallum Turner, Claudia Kim, Johnny Depp, and Carmen Ejogo.

At the end of the first film, the powerful Dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald (Johnny Depp) was captured by MACUSA (Magical Congress of the United States of America), with the help of Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne). But, making good on his threat, Grindelwald escaped custody and has set about gathering followers, most unsuspecting of his true agenda: to raise pure-blood wizards up to rule over all non-magical beings. In an effort to thwart Grindelwald’s plans, Albus Dumbledore (Jude Law) enlists his former student Newt Scamander, who agrees to help, unaware of the dangers that lie ahead. Lines are drawn as love and loyalty are tested, even among the truest friends and family, in an increasingly divided wizarding world.

Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald fly into theaters on November 16th, 2018.
