That’s right Arrowverse fans, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow will be sitting out the next CW Crossover. Legend’s star Caity Lotz announced the news at this year’s San Diego Comic Con, saying the Legends will be doing their own thing this season. Supergirl, Arrow, and The Flash will carry the crossover story line over three nights on the CW.

The four show crossover has become a huge deal for the CW. The first crossover brought Kara to Earth 1 and introduced her to the super friends within the Arrowverse. Shortly after, The Flash and Supergirl aired a musical crossover that they have yet to repeat. The latest crossover, Crisis on Earth-X was a true four show event, bringing all of the superheroes together for the battle against evil doppelgangers from another Earth. It was exciting to see the Legends fighting side by side with the other casts.

There are so many characters in all four shows to keep up with, some of them were left out until their show’s hour of the crossover. So maybe it’s a good thing…but still. I enjoy the comedy that Legends brings to the table.

Legends of Tomorrow showrunner Phil Klemmer said “There’s another show that’s gonna get launched and it just became over capacity.” He also stated that dedicating an entire episode to the crossover put a speed bump in their shorter season. Legends only has 16 episodes, while the other three shows have 22.

This year’s crossover will introduce Kate Kane/Batwoman to the Arrowverse. The network is using the crossover event to set up a new series for Batwoman. I guess this makes up for missing Sara (Lotz), Ray (Brandon Routh) and the rest of the Legends. Man! I was hoping Beebo would tag along, too!

Arrowverse fans are already expressing their shock and anger with the decision all over Twitter. The Arrowverse actors are very good friends off camera. And the chemistry flows over the the shows when their characters interact. I’m sad that we won’t get to see that this year. What do you think of the news? Are you sad? Happy? Let us know in the comments.

The DC Arrowverse Crossover is scheduled for December 2018. The Flash returns to the CW on Tuesday October 9;  Supergirl premieres Sunday October 14; Arrow debuts season seven on Monday, October 15; and DC’s Legends of Tomorrow returns for season four on Monday, October 22.
