A few of the cast members of Critical Role hosted a panel last night at SDCC 2018 and while they were answering fan questions they shared some of the most amazing news! Their Vox Machina: Origins comic is getting a second volume in 2019! If you don’t know, Critical Role is a live Dungeons and Dragons campaign that streams on the Geek and Sundry’s twitch channel. The show recently announced their move to their own YouTube and Twitch channels. The game is dungeon mastered by voice actor Matt Mercer as he takes his other voice actor friends on an epic adventure.

Since the campaign started at home, several stories were left untold other than small mentions here and there if needed to help understand what was currently going on. However we found out last year that we would finally have a way to enjoy the backstory, in comic book form! Critical Role partnered with Dark Horse Comics and writer Matt Colville to create the first Vox Machina Origins comics. Let me tell you it does not disappoint. If you haven’t read them yet you can find them here!

Now because it is starting from the beginning of their story, we did not get to see Ashley Johnson‘s gnome cleric Pike or Tailesin Jaffe‘s human gunslinger Percival Fredrickstein Von Musel Klossowski de Rolo III (better known as Percy). The second origins volume will focus on their introduction to Vox Machina as well as the trouble the group gets into along the way. We also get to see a black haired Pike before her untimely death and resurrection.

While we do not know exactly what stories are going to be told in this next installment, I can only imagine it will be epic. Along with the news of the comic, we also got to see two panels featuring Pike and Percy! If you weren’t able to make it to the live panel (like me) you can catch the entire thing on Tuesday night during Talks Machina! It will also be uploaded to the Geek and Sundry YouTube channel as well!
