Debatably, Aquaman was the most anticipated trailer of SDCC. So when Hall H was filled with the sound of running water, the crowd went wild. Star Jason Momoa appeared from the center of the stage, as the screens showed flowing water everywhere. In his excitement, he did a bit of a haka while taking in the audience’s incredibly loud cheers. Soon, Amber Heard, Patrick Wilson, Nicole Kidman, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II and director James Wan joined him on stage.

The panel was actually a first for Kidman who had never been to Comic-Con before. Wan was really excited about the film. “I wanted to create a superhero film that we’ve never quite seen before. I wanted our film to be more unique. So my movie plays more like a science fiction fantasy film than a traditional super hero movie.”

Some highlights include:

  • Yahya Abdul-Maten II taught himself how to swim after getting the role.
  • Jason Momoa brought the laughs when talking about having a rash from Wan. (It was due to harnesses)
  • They shared a 6 minute sizzle reel of more footage – including a shot of Aquaman in the classic orange and green suit!

I reeeeally want to see that sizzle reel but that was for fans who were in Hall H. So jealous! The film looks a lot better than expected and I think fans are hyped up for a good reason. It looks beautiful. I’m looking forward to the next few months of promotion!
