SDCC 2017: Worlds Collide in the New THE GIFTED Trailer

The Gifted gets up and running almost immediately. In a new trailer debuting at SDCC, we get a more in-depth look at the family whose world is turned upside down. In addition to the family, we’re introduced to a ragtag family of mutants. Their worlds collide when they help each other escape the clutches of the police.

In the new trailer we get a better look at the event that started it all. A young man is dragged through the hallways of his school, kicking and screaming. He’s held in the boy’s locker room under a shower, being tortured by school bullies. He screams as the walls around him being to pull apart and shake. The school is nearly destroyed in his rage but his sister saves them both. Now, with their powers exposed, they need to go on the run.

We’re also better introduced to the mutants who will be helping the family. We know Blink and her teleportation abilities from the films but the others are new! There’s Polaris, who’s powers reverse the magnetism of objects. Thunderbird is able to see into far distances. And Eclipse who seems to harness a high intensity burning light. They also name drop the X-Men and how they may not even exist anymore. What kind of world are they living in?

The basic story seems interesting and to be pushing a family-friendly market for the mutants. The effects look good and we’ll see how all their powers will work together to save each other. How long can a series go for of a family on the run? We’ll have to wait and see.
