SDCC 2017: WONDER WOMAN Sequel May Get Release Date At SDCC

WONDERful news everyone! According to THR, we may be hearing the release date for a sequel to the beloved Wonder Woman that came out over a month ago. This seems incredibly soon but the site is confident that Patty Jenkins will return as director and an announcement will be made.

While everything is currently in the air, rumors have been circulating about a sequel. At one point, sites had claimed Jenkins was definitely set to return, which she denied. Another rumor spreading saw the film setting Wonder Woman up in the Cold War in the 80s. But again, nothing has been confirmed for the film. Jenkins has expressed her thoughts and ideas for a sequel, should she come back for the film. She wants to see Diana come to America as a start, which would fit in with the Cold War setting. And she’s looking forward to having an adventure with her, rather then having to set up more origins. Whatever the choice is, it’s bound to be fun!

Meanwhile, Wonder Woman continues to shatter records at the box office. She has very recently become the third highest grossing film WB has had in North America. Which means, you guessed it, she has surpassed Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2. The other domestically dominated films are The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises so the studio is definitely ready for some more superheroes/superheroines. While the film hasn’t gained as much traction overseas, the film has been a bonafide success in America. So surely an announcement of some sort will happen at SDCC! We’ll just have to keep crossing our fingers until Saturday, July 22nd at the WB Film panel set in Hall H.
