Just when you thought you might never see another Stargate series… Stargate lives!  As fans at SDCC celebrated the 20th anniversary of the debut of SG-1, it was announced that a new series is in the works.  MGM has a new streaming service devoted to the show called Stargate Command, and the new digital series, Stargate Origins, will be it’s cornerstone.  This, according to Variety.

Kevin Conroy, president of digital and new platforms at MGM said in a statement that the new series is ” a thank you to fans who have been keeping the spirit of the franchise alive for nearly 25 years.”  The 10-episode series will center around Catherine Langford, daughter of archeologist Paul Langford who discovered the ancient stargate in 1928.

Stargate Command is intended to be a digital hub for all things Stargate.  In addition to Origins, it will provide “access to the most comprehensive collection of content related to the franchise that has ever been offered, as well as community hubs and behind-the-scenes content related to Origins.”

No specifics on what content will be provided, and there is tell that there will be free and paid portions of Stargate Command… but fans of the show rejoice!   You get to revel in your fandom online just a little bit more.  And, then… who knows what comes next!
