The Game of Thrones panel took place in the famous Hall H at SDCC on Friday afternoon.  It started with the Season 7 trailer, which fans have seen.  But, you can’t expect a ton of new information off the bat when the season is currently airing… and that trailer is awesome.  A great way to launch.  After the trailer, they got straight to fan questions. And, the cast members spent most of their time commenting on their characters and where they stand now, before episode 2 of season 7.

On the panel sat Sophie Turner, Gwendoline Christie, John Bradley, Liam Cunningham, Alfie Allen, Isaac Hempstead Wright, Conleth Hill, Jacob Anderson and Nathalie Emmanuel.

Though the panel was lacking much sought after voices like Kit Harrington and Peter Dinklage, and there were no big reveals about the show… there were some great moments, some surprises and a ‘Weeks Ahead’ Trailer that will whet your appetite!

Here are 7 highlights from that panel.   Watch the trailer below!

    1. Kristian Nairn surprised fans by showing up to moderate the panel.  Of course, once he hit the podium, facing thousands of screaming and adoring fans he said only one word, ‘Hodor’.  Nairn also, at one point asked Isaac Hempstead Wright if he missed him.  The response… ‘Of course, I do!’
    2. Sophie Turner said of Sansa ‘She’s been silently absorbing and learning and adapting… and, um, in my opinion she’s just as good at playing the game as he (Littlefinger) is at this point.’  Which was met with uproarious applause.   She also at one point called Sansa ‘woke’.  Ain’t that the truth.
    3. Alfie Allen brought a dog.  You heard me.  He had a puppy on his lap throughout.  You can see it peeking it’s cute little face up here.

  1. Gwendoline Christie, when asked who she wished was still on the show, answered HODOR and Catelyn Stark.  Does that mean that we definitely won’t see Lady Stoneheart this season?  Though, that could be a misdirect.  She’s not Catelyn anymore.
  2. When asked who she would bring back, Sophie Turner said, ‘I really loved working with Jack Gleeson so much that I’d have to say Joffrey.’
  3. Liam Cunningham claimed that the GoT spinoff will be called ‘Better Call Davos’ to thunderous laughter.  On killing Melisandre Cunningham said that Davos would ‘pop a cap in her’.  Violent. This, after he claimed that Davos isn’t the vindictive type.  I think not Sir Davos.
  4. A fan in cosplay as The Night King himself came to the mic to ask the cast members if they were looking forward to rising as Children of the Cold.  Ha! Amazing!
