Get ready to let out a blood-curdling scream, horror lovers! According to a recent report from Deadline, the Scream requel is getting a sequel, and we have a release date. Paramount has slated the slasher film to hit theaters on March 31, 2023. Here is what we know so far.
Following Scream 5‘s incredible success, earning more than $140 million at the global box office, Paramount was quick to greenlight a sequel. The entire creative team will be returning. This list includes directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett. Screenplay writers James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick are also returning in addition to the producers and executive producers.

Scream 5 left off with yet another double killer reveal and ultimate takedown featuring the OG final girls Sidney (Neve Campbell) and Gale (Courtney Cox), in addition to the new final girls Tara (Jenna Ortega) and Sam (Melissa Barrera). Following the classic setup found throughout the franchise, the main character(s) finally realizes who the killer is after all of their loved ones have been murdered.
In a recent interview on the Just for Variety podcast, Courtney Cox revealed she is returning for the sixth film. She stated, “I got the script yesterday.”
During a Q&A panel at Mad Monster Party Horror Convention 2022, Neve Campbell revealed that officials approached her about returning for another adventure as Sidney Prescott. The 48-year-old actress said, “I’ll read the script and see how I feel.”
