Scream takes place 25 years after a streak of brutal murders that shocked the quiet town of Woodsboro. A new killer has donned the Ghostface mask and targets a group of teenagers. But not just any teenagers. Everyone involved is connected to someone from the original murders. And this Ghostface isn’t just out to kill. They want to resurrect secrets from the town’s deadly past. Will Sidney and the others be able to put a stop to Ghostface for good? Or will he be back for another scare?
While I did like Scream 4, it never felt like the other films within the franchise. It’s a good horror film, but far from my favorite Scream film. I was a bit nervous when it was announced that a fifth film was coming. After the passing of Wes Craven, I wasn’t sure how another team would handle one of my most beloved franchises. But, things are looking up. I love that the franchise is going back to its roots and the tone and feel we are getting from the trailer and images match the first few films perfectly.
Campbell, Cox and Arquette will return to the franchise in their iconic roles alongside Marley Shelton and newcomers Melissa Barrera, Kyle Gallner, Mason Gooding, Mikey Madison, Dylan Minnette, Jenna Ortega, Jack Quaid, Jasmin Savoy Brown and Sonia Ammar. Scream is being directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett from a script written by James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick.
Scream will stalk into theaters on January 14, 2022. Check out the new character posters below! Are you excited about this latest installment? Let us know in the comments below and on social media!
