The new kids of Woodsboro are about to learn that they are never safe from Ghostface. Paramount Pictures has dropped our first look at the upcoming sixth installment to one of the greatest horror franchises of our time, Scream 6. Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett are back to direct from a script by James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick.

The teaser for Scream 6 shows that this story is leaving the (un)safe streets of Woodsboro and taking the four survivors into the big city for a fresh start. We spot them on a train packed to the brim with riders decked out for Halloween. And among those costumes are the terrifying Ghostface. But is this just someone’s idea of a sick joke, or is the nightmare still going? As the ride continues, the lights begin to flicker, and the Ghostface moves closer and closer just before he strikes.

It’s gritty, dark and oddly, fresh feeling. The Scream reboot breathed new life into the franchise by stepping back into its roots and giving us a new cast of survivors to root for, along with some old faces. But now, they seem ready to take this story to a whole new level. We see the return of Sam Carpenter (Melissa Barrera), Tara Carpenter (Jenna Ortega), Mindy Meeks-Martin (Jasmin Savoy Brown) and Chad Meeks-Martin (Mason Gooding). They are joined by Scream veterans Kirby Reed (Hayden Panettiere) and Gale Weathers (Courteney Cox).

This installment will also star Jack Champion, Henry Czerny, Liana Liberato, Dermot Mulroney, Devyn Nekoda, Tony Revolori, Josh Segarra and Samara Weaving. The only real worry we have right now is that Neve Campbell won’t be returning for Scream 6. Hopefully, though, over the next few months, we will get more information about what our survivors are going through. Maybe a glimpse at who might be behind the mask and where this tale of terror will take us. Our out-of-this-world theory? Gale is behind the mask getting her vengeance.
