Horror fans, Scream 5 has dropped some wonderful news into our collective lap! Firstly, the fifth sequel in the Scream franchise has finally wrapped. But that’s not all! We’ve got a release date and an official title for the upcoming flick. Drum roll, please …
It’s going to be called Scream.
While that may seem like a cop out, it’s actually a lovely homage to legendary director Wes Craven‘s original film. The one that launched an unforgettable horror installment.
Directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett were at the helm this go-round. The screenplay was penned by James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick. Kevin Williamson, who wrote the first film, executive produced.
Scream veterans Neve Campbell (Sidney Prescott), Courteney Cox (Gale Weathers) and David Arquette (Dewey Riley) are all returning as they did for Scream 4. Additionally, Marley Shelton is reprising her role as Deputy Judy Hicks from Scream 4.
