Savitar and Dr. Alchemy Have Similar Goals in Season Three of The Flash!

The CW’s hit series, The Flash, returns in October for its third season and will start in the Flashpoint storyline, seeing Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) deal with the alternate universe he creates for himself when he saves his mother from the Reverse-Flash. However, they will not deal directly with the Flashpoint universe for the entire season and, as such, they will need villains for The Flash to fight all season long and it appears that those villains will be Savitar and Dr. Alchemy.

These two villains are both very very different in what they can do. Savitar, more or less, is simply another speedster. Dr. Alchemy, on the other hand, is typically seen to have the ability to completely transmute matter from one state to another. He’s even turned The Flash into water vapor before. With these two very different villains up against Flash, what can we expect?

Executive Producer Todd Helbing talked to IGN about that very thing, first addressing why the third season of The Flash is even bringing in another speedster, since we’ve already seen Reverse-Flash and Zoom. As Helbing says,

“if you have some of these other meta humans, it gets hard to show how Barry can’t get them. If you have another speedster, especially someone like Zoom, or Reverse Flash, you need somebody on an equal level to provide that threat that a lot of these other metas can’t do.”

However, to keep it fresh and about more than just beating each other in a race, essentially, Helbing adds that Savitar is

“more of a psychological villain in a weird way. I think the Hindu word for Savitar means God of Speed; he’s all about speed. Everything about this guy is different. I can’t go into super detail, but he’s not like Zoom or Reverse Flash.”

In terms of how Savitar will work with Dr. Alchemy, Helbing couldn’t say a whole lot. He simply offered up that “Dr. Alchemy’s plan and Savitar’s plan are not much different,” and that,

“Last year we got pretty dark with Zoom, and I think we want to go back to more of a Season 1 lightness to it. We still need those darker moments, and I think when you find out what Alchemy is doing, it sort of provides that “holy s**t” moment that we really love to have on our show.”

So, from what we can tell, Savitar will be the season three big bad, pushing The Flash to go even faster than he ever has, but Dr. Alchemy will be the one unafraid to make the punches and give the fatal blow.
