It’s still hard to believe that one of our brightest stars left this Earth last week. Chadwick Boseman‘s passing has profoundly echoed throughout pop culture and beyond. Comedic sketch series Saturday Night Live is planning to pay homage to the late actor by airing the episode he hosted tonight, as reported by Deadline.
Now, Boseman initially hosted Saturday Night Live in April of 2018. Unfortunately, that was the only time he hosted. 2018 proved to be a big year for Boseman. Black Panther shattered box office records and the actor quickly rose to prominence as an immensely gifted performer. Of course, his Marvel star continued to rise with Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame. We first met Boseman’s T’Challa in Captain America: Civil War. Besides his superhero ventures, Boseman also portrayed Jackie Robinson in 42, James Brown in Get on Up, and Thurgood Marshall in Marshall. His latest projects are Da 5 Bloods and Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom.
Boseman passed away on August 28th following a four-year battle with colon cancer.
According to Deadline, Boseman’s participation in the sketch “Black Jeopardy!” has catapulted to new heights on social media. A clip featuring Boseman in said sketch is already at 24 million views and counting.

Saturday Night Live‘s decision to honor Boseman by re-airing his episode is nothing short of respectful. The world still grieves his loss and I imagine we’ll be grappling with it for a long time. Wakanda forever to a true superhero and king.
Saturday Night Live will air its Chadwick Boseman-hosted episode tonight at 11:30pm on your NBC affiliate.
