Hanna Yoo and Alex Baek are making a contract to work together in Zero Game.

What if you were given a chance at resetting your whole life? Would you risk everything? In Zelbasen‘s Zero Game, those are the stakes. When Hanna Yoo’s life spirals out of control after her parent’s deaths, she accepts a mysterious invitation to compete in Zero Game. Here, Hanna is given special powers and sent out to faces dangers around every turn and not just from the creatures and missions, but fellow players as well. There are mysteries around every turn, including her newfound partner Alex Baek and her father’s involvement in the game. Can the two of them survive to reach the top spot? Or will they both fall? Rivals beware, Hanna may be new, but she is no pushover.

This is one of those webtoons that mix fantasy, action, thriller, and even a bit of romance into a chapter every week. Hanna Yoo definitely defines the statement “started from the bottom now we’re here”. What Zelbasen does best in Zero Game is give life to all of the characters. We see the growth of not only Hanna and Alex but those around them as well. It gives great depth to the story. It also means that when the chapters don’t solely focus on Hanna and Alex, they still feel like they are progressing the story forward. Get ready to have your mind blown as you unravel the mysteries of this fantasy adventure.

Zero Game updates every Tuesday and can be read here.

Eleanor losing her cool during school in Dents.

Beth Behrs, Matt Doyle and Sid Kotian‘s Dents is an apocalyptic journey set in 2111. The world is trying to piece itself back together after an ancient plague wipes out half of the world’s population. The vaccination may have saved those left, but it had other side effects as well. Most notably, there was a massive increase in the birth of identical twins who also possess extraordinary powers. These individuals become known to society as “Dents”. And when people don’t understand something, they become scared and act out. When Eleanor learns she herself is a Dent and has a twin somewhere out there, she is quickly swept into the underground society just trying to survive.

This is one whirlwind of a webtoon. Dents may be placed in the sci-fi category, but it quickly becomes a little bit of everything. This way is a story we have heard before. It follows the formula of people being persecuted for being different and used wrongly before rising up to save themselves and humanity. But what makes Dents so unique is how this story is told. It doesn’t follow conventional “good guy” and “bad guy” roles while also building up the side characters to help progress the story. It was so compelling I binged the entire series in a day.

Dents is finished and can be read here.
