The Vampire Librarian WEBTOON Canvas Series.

Halloween and the cumulation of the spooky season are right around the corner, but we aren’t done yet. This week’s first series is Emily Cotton Cram‘s The Vampire Librarian. The story follows a new kid in a small town with a charming yet mysterious library. And within this library dwells supernatural beings. The more Maddy explores, the more mysteries arise. It’s a tale of queer love, loss and blood.

We love a spooky story that isn’t setting out to scare us. The Vampire Librarian features elements of gothic horror without trying to terrify or terrorize. Instead, it feels like you have drifted into a monster story of old. Plus, we absolutely love a character who loves books, and plenty of them can be found within this tale. We highly suggest diving into this just in time for Halloween; you won’t regret it.

The Vampire Librarian updates every Wednesday and can be read here!

Ash in the Wind

Ash in the Wind WEBTOON Canvas Series.

Our second series this week is cyroflower‘s Ash in the Wind. This supernatural romance follows Alexis Brangwyn, a disillusioned college student who has lost interest in the real world. So, she jumps on the opportunity to investigate a local paranormal legend. Things get even better when that investigation also includes the book she has been swooning over. But is this place too good to be true? Or is it so good they won’t want to return home?

Just like our first entry, not every spooky/fall vibe WEBTOON needs to be scary. Ash in the Wind takes supernatural elements and gives us the feel of a paranormal investigation story without trying to be overly frightening. The relationship between Alexis and Neil is sweet and wholesome and the perfect balance to the mysterious part of this story. Plus, we love local legends, and Alexis’ obsession with them makes us beyond happy.

Ash in the Wind updates every Thursday and can be read here!
