Frankie uncovering a deer head covering in webs.

Stagtown WEBTOON Original Series.

It’s a mixed bag of horror and drama this week. To kick things off, we have Punko‘s Stagtown! Something is seriously wrong with the town that Frankie grew up in. It’s hidden away from the world on the other side of a rather ominous stone bridge. Most of the time, the people of the town spend their days pretending they don’t see all the supernatural stuff happening around them. But Frankie, who just moved back to town, is having trouble following suit.

Stagtown has been one of those series that have gotten us through the last year. It’s a horror WEBTOON without the outright gore or creep factor. And while we do enjoy them, the way Punko tells this story allows our minds to fill in the blanks. And sometimes, our own minds will terrify us more than any story ever could. The art style is immaculate, and the color palette helps to really bring this story to life. Even though the spooky season is over, this is something you will want to read all year.

Stagtown updates every Tuesday and can be read here!

Plague Muffins

A plague doctor holding muffins in an open window.

Plague Muffins WEBTOON Canvas Series.

Our second series this week is Erin Kirkland‘s Plague Muffins. We’ve never been more intrigued by a name. Scilis is the town baker who has been experimenting with new muffin recipes. One day he accidentally creates a cure for the deadly black plague that has been running rampant. When the Plague Doctor Society learns of this, they immediately hire him to save the world. Except for Head Doctor Malcolm, who wants Scilis gone!

We love muffins and stories that feature the plague. Normally not together, but in this case, we’ll take it. Sometimes two very different concepts just work so well together. Case in point – Plague Muffins. Uncovering what is really going on and exploring a time period that is normally pretty depressing in a very different way makes this read exciting. It’s hard to look away when there are just so many things to enjoy and don’t even get us started on the art style!
