Good morning fellow Webtoon readers and welcome to this week’s installment of Saturday Morning Webtoons! This is where we shine a light on two Webtoons we are thoroughly enjoying. What length would you go to help someone find their home? In Cynthia J.S.‘s fantasy series Skye, an exceptional engineer, comes across quite an unusual find. What was supposed to be a simple trip to the junkyard led Skye to discover a fully-functional cyborg. In reality, though, she is far more than a cyborg; she is a brand new type of robot! One that has a catalyst to activate liquid magic functions. Because in this world of science, there is also magic. Skye makes it her goal to help this cyborg find her way back to her original owner, but the further into the journey that more secrets begin to unravel, including Skye’s clouded past.

I’ve recently dived into this series and I am in love with Cynthia’s world. Skye mixes the fantasy themes of magic and steampunk to create a diverse story that flows so smoothly between the two. There is a lot to take in, but the first few chapters of the story really set up the world, backstory, and Skye and Cora’s relationship. Speaking of Cora, she is such a fun character and I love that she is brilliant yet has little knowledge of the outside world. Watching her learn about the little things is like watching a child uncover the little mysteries of life. I can’t wait to see where this story goes from here!

The Croaking

In Echorise‘s The Croaking, we are treated to a fantasy story set around the world’s most prestigious military academy known as The Roost. The school was known for never accepting a Crow into its ranks until Scra joined. His acceptance is shrouded in conspiracy, which draws the attention of his new roommate Ky. Ky won’t rest until he finds out exactly what is going and exactly where Scra has been disappearing at night. Between the flight tests, classes and Murders, Scra, Ky and Ree must band together to uncover the mysteries about their utopia and the whispers of a superweapon.

The Croaking is one of those Webtoons that you just can’t help to fall in love with. Everything from the story, the art to the overall tone created by Echorise draws you in. She gives us a story about acceptance, fighting against prejudice, LGBTQ+ and a world where women are seen as fierce. This story is just – chef’s kiss. Season one has come to an end and we are quite a few chapters into season two, which makes it the perfect time to binge! It may only be listed within the site’s fantasy genre part, but it covers so much more including romance, suspense and even action. The Croaking is one of those stories that will stick with you days after you have finished reading it.
