Race You WEBTOON Canvas Series.

It’s the fourth and final week of Saturday Morning Webtoons Pride Month celebration! We are kicking this week off with Ocated’s Race You. The story follows Casper and Theo, two high school boys who have been rivals since their freshman year. Now in their senior year, Casper suddenly has to ‘respect’ Theo just because he is the track team’s captain. But that becomes even harder when Theo’s face starts making Casper feel pretty giddy inside.

It’s okay; you can admit it; enemies to lovers is the superior romance trope. And Race You shows it off in such a fun and exciting way. Casper and Theo are trying to balance their feelings for each other, plus dealing with everyday high school drama. Watching the banter between these two is one of my favorite things when it updates. But we can’t ignore the side characters and all the representation they provide as well. This is definitely one WEBTOON series you should be reading!

Room of Swords

Room of Swords WEBTOON Original Series.

Our second WEBTOON series this week is Toonimated‘s Room of Swords! Gyrus is stuck in a never-ending loop of waking up in a world ruled by monsters, surviving long enough to find the treasured “boss sword” and unlocking the mythical Room of Swords. The only problem is that once inside, he dies – again. In fact, he has died 34 times and doesn’t have a clue! He isn’t the only one. Several others awake in this strange place to suffer the same fate.

What I really love about Room of Swords is that it is a Sci-Fi WEBTOON series with tons of world-building that never feels too overbearing. It is an animated series that comes to life on the screen, and it is always exciting to dive into new chapters. The colorful cast of characters is what really drives this story forward for me. They are equally complex, and we watch as they change over the years. And those characters are also beautiful representations of LGBTQIA+.

Room of Swords updates every Monday and can be read here.
