Good morning fellow WEBTOON readers, and welcome to this week’s installment of Saturday Morning Webtoons! This is where we shine a light on two WEBTOONs we are thoroughly enjoying. These stories have had us captivated chapter after chapter each week, and we couldn’t pass up sharing them with you! So grab your favorite snacks, an electronic device and settle into these sensational stories.

Nevermore
This week’s Saturday Morning Webtoons is all about spooky stories, and we are kicking it off with Kate Flynn and Kit Trace‘s Nevermore. There is only one certain thing when it comes to life after death, involuntary enrollment at the mysterious Nevermore Academy. As if death wasn’t hard enough, Lenore and Annabel must begin to uncover the memories of their demise, prepare for final exams and learn to rely on each other and their newly acquired ghost forms known as Spectres, all for a second chance at life.
I knew the moment Flynn and Trace announced that they were doing another series that I was going to love it. Shiloh, their other WEBTOON, is one of my favorites on the app, so it would make sense that I would love Nevermore. The idea of what happens after death has been covered numerous times, but their take on it feels fresh while also feeling classic. It is unapologetically sapphic, gothic and an absolute must-read for all WEBTOON readers.

BlackSmith
Our second series this week is Boredman‘s BlackSmith. Zoa has always thought there was nothing more cruel and monstrous than a pirate. Then she became one. After that dreaded pirate BlackSmith tries to kill her, a Jinn traps her soul within his body. Now Zoa must lead his bloodthirsty crew and sail under the flag that terrorized her village, all in an attempt to find a way to get her life back. But with each raid, Zoa learns that monsters aren’t born – they’re made.
What could be better than facing off against bloodthirsty pirates? Swapping bodies with one, of course! I imagine that Zoa probably feels differently about this, but BlackSmith is too fantastic to change her path now. Boredman’s art style helps bring Zoa’s twisted journey to life, and the attention to the background details makes every scene a pleasure to explore. Plus, the fact that all curses are replaced with the word “crab” is one of my favorite things to appear in a WEBTOON—definitely a must-read for that alone.
