How I have made it through eight SMW columns without screaming my love for Rachel Smythe‘s Lore Olympus is a testament to my restraint. Because if I could do anything without feeling like I’m overbearing, it would be to scream this from the rooftops. This is a modern take on the story of Hades and Persephone. Readers will get to witness what the gods do after the sun goes down. Dive into the friendship and lies, gossip, wild parties and of course, the love triangles! When you think you know what will happen next, the gods flip things upside down.

It is no surprise that Lore Olympus is on our must-read list. This extremely popular Webtoon deserves every piece of good praise it has received. Rachel takes characters many of us already know and shines a new light on them. For those who love the myth The Taking of Persephone, this retelling has enough new content to keep you on your toes. Persephone may first appear to be weak, but this queen of the Underworld can take care of herself when needed. It’s so easy to fall head over heels for both main characters and the long list of side characters we find within the story. And if that hasn’t won you over, take a look at Hades’ cheekbones. They could cut through steel.

Kennycomics and SilentMaru‘s KILLMAX might still be in its early chapters, but it is right up there with some of Webtoon’s most popular series. Max Love was born into a powerful witches’ bloodline and taught to fear her powers from a young age. When she unknowingly uses her powers to grant her deepest desire, her life changes into something she could have never imagined. But with this newfound popularity, she draws in some of the worst people, including witch hunters. She needs to overcome her fears and tap into her witch powers to overcome her enemies and survive.

The art, the story, the characters, the action, honestly I don’t even know where to start. KILLMAX has completely taken over my thoughts these last few weeks. Max is a character that we can relate to as she learns to control her powers and deal with the people around her. The supernatural side is jam-packed with action as witches duke it out against each other. Max kicks major ass and we are here for it. But Max isn’t alone in this. The side characters within the story are just as strong and well thought out as Max. This is one webtoon you will want to binge read over and over until the next chapter drops.
