We have superheroes on the brain and that means I need to talk about Dan Schkade‘s Lavender Jack. At the dawn of the 20th century, there is the City of Gallery. A place of science, diversity and wealth. But like all good things – it has some dark. The city is held in the clutches of the corrupt ruling class. Enter the devilish vigilante Lavender Jack. He has fighting prowess and technology on his side, but the elites have a few tricks of their own.

Lavender Jack has nearly everything I need in a Webtoon series. Charm, suspense, intrigue, characters with complex backstories and so much more. The way Schkade tells this story along with his art is top tier. I fell in love with it back during season one and now that it has entered season three, I can’t pull my eyes away from it. I highly suggest jumping in and getting up to date as soon as possible!

Lavender Jack updates every Tuesday and can be read here!

Continuing the superhero theme, we have Justin Jordan and John Amor‘s Urban Animal. The story follows Joe Gomez, a high school student with good grades, a cool band and girls on his tail. But just when Joe thinks he has the world figured out, things take a drastic turn. It turns out that Joe is a shape-shifting nature spirit known as a Chimera. Now Joe needs all of his powers to help save the human race no matter what he wants.

While Urban Animal may feel like a run-of-the-mill story where the hero learns he has special abilities and saves the world. But I promise you it is far more than that. It takes this concept and builds well past it in a matter of a few chapters. It reminds me so much of the more traditional superhero stories but in Webtoon form. As the series continues on, we watch as Joe comes into his powers is worth the read!
