Just for Kicks

Just for Kicks WEBTOON Original Series.
A fun little bit about my past – I grew up taking Tang Soo Do and have always been passionate about martial arts. Which is why this week is all about it. Our first series is Josie Fox‘s Just for Kicks! It’s a slice-of-life series that follows an amateur university Taekwondo club. It’s a fun mix of the day-to-day life of those a part of the club and knowledge about the art. Come for the martial arts education; stay for the warm, happy feelings each chapter brings.
Seriously, warm fuzzy feelings are the best. When I was seeking out WEBTOON series to fit my need for martial arts, I was expecting to find some packed with action and excitement. And I did. But it was Just for Kicks that really won my heart. It has a lot to do with the art style chosen that makes it feel comfy and cozy while also introducing Taekwondo to the masses. It’s a great series to dive into when looking for something light to binge.
Just for Kicks is completed and can be read in full here!

Taekwondo Kid

Taekwondo Kid WEBTOON Original Series.
JUN‘s Taekwondo Kid follows suit this week. This story follows Ihn Kim, an explosive Taekwondo fighter who isn’t taken seriously due to being held back by all the sparring rules. But changes are coming to the world of Taekwondo that might just give him a fighting chance. Can Ihn finally beat the people who have mocked him and prove that his style of Taekwondo is no joke? Or will he fall flat on his face and prove to everyone that they were right all along?
While Just for Kicks is a fun, everyday look at taekwondo, Taekwondo Kid is a look at the more intense side. The action is excellent – chefs kiss. From chapter one, we get the chance to see how the action is portrayed through JUN’s art style. The action is rounded out by the story of Ihn just trying to find his place in the world. It’s a nice balance for those looking for something more than just fighting.
