Fingers

The eight friends holding up their wine glasses for a toast.

Fingers WEBTOON Original Series.

The spooky season may be over, but our brains haven’t caught up. So this week’s series are coming from the thriller category. First, we have Jeongsik Park and Ssuljak’s Fingers. Things turn deadly when the creators behind a popular entertainment news app find themselves locked in a room together after a drunken celebration party. They have until the following morning to solve a puzzle, or everyone dies. But there are hints available to them. They just need to cut off a finger to get one. Will they survive?

Some WEBTOON series are meant to be lovey-dovey, some are meant to be high fantasy, and some are just meant to be nitty, gritty and dark. And Fingers is definitely the latter. If you are a fan of thrillers like Saw, this is a must-read series. It sometimes gets graphic, so those with weak stomachs might want to think hard before checking it out. But the suspense, mystery and tension are incredible. It really makes you question what you would do if you were ever put into this situation.

Fingers updates every Wednesday and can be read here!

Welfare Center

Seonghye waking up in a room by herself.

Welfare Center WEBTOON Original Series.

Keeping with the spooky vibes, we have NANA‘s Welfare Center. This WEBTOON series takes us to a different room in a place called the Pureum Welfare Center. Seonghye wakes up there surrounded by women she doesn’t know or have any idea how she got there. Now she must overcome the hostile environment and terrifying mental roadblocks to uncover her past and free herself from this new hell. But will finding the truth be worse than accepting her new life? Or is anything better than being stuck behind the walls of Pereum?

What would happen if you woke up somewhere thinking you had only been there for a day or so to find out that you have been there for months? Now make that place a mental hospital, and you have no idea why you are even there. That’s the premise for Welfare Center. And even that alone is terrifying. But add in the suspense and mystery, and it gets even better. But really, the best part of all is how unreliable Seonghye is as a narrator. It really has you questioning precisely what is going on around her.

Welfare Center updates every Thursday and can be read here!
