We survived Friday the 13, but that doesn’t mean we still don’t have spooky horror stories on the brain. This week’s Saturday Morning Webtoons is all about those scary stories. Our first is DEY’s DEAD DAYS. The horror zombie WEBTOON series begins four days after a zombie virus breaks out sending the world into utter chaos. And while the chapters are filled with zombies, it is a story about the will to live, human instincts and human selfish desires.

I’ve said it before and I stand by this, I love a good zombie story. The market may be oversaturated, but hidden gems still exist within it. DEAD DAYS is one of those hidden gems. It has your traditional zombie must-haves like a virus, the world going crazy and shambling creatures. But it dives into something even more terrifying – how people react. We’ve seen it in shows like The Walking Dead and games like The Last of Us where the real horror during this is the humans left behind.

DEAD DAYS is complete and can be read here!

Hell is Other People WEBTOON Original Series.

Our second terrifying WEBTOON series this week is Yong-Ki Kim’s Hell is Other People. It follows Jongu Yun, a young man who moves to Seoul and rents a cheap room in a run-down building. The place may be falling apart but the residents are far creepier than he ever imagined. But running low on money means that he needs to hang out as long as possible until he can move elsewhere. However, when mysterious events start to happen, Jongu realizes that his fellow residents are more suspicious than they seem.

I think we can all agree that sometimes, Hell is Other People. Things start off rather easy for Jongu until the creepy sets in. What really drives this WEBTOON forward is that choice in art style. It isn’t whimsical or colorful like so many others and relies heavily on character design to unsettle us. Each of Jongu’s neighbors have a distinct look about them that shifts over time and brings goosebumps to the skin. When you are done binging the WEBTOON series, we highly suggest checking out the live-action adaptation, Strangers from Hell!
