Huge news coming out of Marvel today! According to Variety, director Sam Raimi has finally joined the MCU. Sources say that he has taken up the director’s chair of the Doctor Strange sequel, currently titled Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. You can take a moment in order to pick yourself up off of the floor.
This news comes after almost a month after writer and director Scott Derrickson parted ways with the project, citing creative differences. He remains on the film as an executive producer, though it’s likely to be in name only. It’s a shame that he had to part ways after bringing the first film to life but at least he has an incredible replacement.

Many fans of Marvel films may know Raimi best from directing the Spider-Man trilogy that started back in 2002. It’s been referred to as one of, if not the main, film that inspired the current wave of superhero films that we are enjoying today. So frankly it’s about time he’s gotten into the current Marvel line-up of directors. With this property, he could do a world of wonders, what with his love of comics and his horror background? It’s definitely going to be a wild ride. The only problem is, he has a lot of work to do in order to reach the May 2021 release date. We’ll be cheering him on, though!
