Ryan Coogler will return to his home away from home. The director and writer of Black Panther has signed on to the sequel in the same position, according to THR. While it’s shocking that they haven’t announced it sooner, at least the deal has finally come.
Details are scarce at the moment but apparently Marvel wanted to keep as much of the creative team in tact for Black Panther 2. There’s no word if Joe Robert Cole will also be returning to co-write or Ludwig Göransson will return to make more music but you can’t resist getting excited. The film was such a cultural milestone and an incredible success for the studio.

Of course, announcing a sequel does heavily hint at the fate of the characters left at the end of Avengers: Infinity War. Though I feel that everyone knew Chadwick Boseman‘s T’Challa wouldn’t be killed off, given the major success of the first film. But one does wonder just how soon this sequel will take place after the untitled Avengers 4 film. Just how much of it will play into the events of the sequel? Apparently Coogler is planning on finishing the script next year and entering production in either late 2019 or early 2020. Do we have to wait that long?
What do you think about Coogler returning? Let us know! Be sure to come back to Geek Girl Authority for more MCU news. The Black Panther sequel doesn’t have a release date. Wakanda forever!
