Out of Deadline late yesterday, we’ve got news that Fox’s solo mutant adventure starring Channing Tatum, Gambit, is yet again having a little trouble getting out of the gate.

The film’s director, Rupert Wyatt, who’s most recent movie the incredible Rise of the Planet of the Apes, is having to leave the production. He issued a statement yesterday saying, “I was very much looking forward to working with my friend Channing and the team at Fox, but regrettably a push in the start date now conflicts with another project. I thank them for the opportunity, and I know that Gambit will make a terrific film.”

Apparently, the film was supposed to start filming in November, just a couple months away, but was then pushed back to a March start date.

The film is still moving forward. Fox is not pulling the plug on the X-Men related film, but they will need to go find a new director. That’s all. Nothing dire. No reason for Gambit fans to fret — you’re movie is still on track to come out next year. Marvel dealt with a similar issue when Edgar Wright left Ant-Man and that movie was still great.
