There have been a lot of small teases for the new The Incredibles sequel. Finally, on Wednesday, we got a real look at what Incredibles 2 has to offer with a sneak peek trailer released during the Olympics. Our favorite Disney-Pixar super family is coming out of the shadows, and in the process… The Incredibles are getting woke.

There’s an underground campaign to bring the supers back, and the hero to do it is Elastigirl (Holly Hunter). Mr. Incredible (Craig T. Nelson) has to show what an incredible father he can be, in support of his wife’s mission to bring super heroes out into the light of day once again. It ain’t easy.

This is a fun way to revisit the world of The Incredibles. Modern times demand a modern approach, and the juxtaposition of the challenges each of the heads of this family face at home and in the world against what might be expected of them, are a perfect comment on parenthood today. Mom saves the day on a motorcycle and dad saves the day by keeping his kids safe, happy and fed, at home. They are, in some ways, equally important tasks. As Edna says, “Done properly, parenting is an heroic act.” It’s a message that resonates amongst all of the fun action, adventure, and a slew of intense new baby powers!

In “Incredibles 2,” Helen (voice of Holly Hunter) is called on to lead a campaign to bring Supers back, while Bob (voice of Craig T. Nelson) navigates the day-to-day heroics of “normal” life at home with Violet (voice of Sarah Vowell), Dash (voice of Huck Milner) and baby Jack-Jack—whose superpowers are about to be discovered. Their mission is derailed, however, when a new villain emerges with a brilliant and dangerous plot that threatens everything. But the Parrs don’t shy away from a challenge, especially with Frozone (voice of Samuel L. Jackson) by their side. That’s what makes this family so Incredible.

Incredibles 2 will charge into theaters June 15th, 2018.
