Lost in Space returns! In a sense at least. And we have our first look at the upcoming Netflix series based off the 1960s series of the same name. In our first trailer, we get a good look at not only the Robinson family but the planet they discover. Danger, adventure and discovery all come to play and we’re a bit excited by it.

In the trailer we see the pioneering Robinson family from 2046 get knocked off course from their colony of space explorers. They encounter a rift in spacetime and are transported to an unknown planet. In what seems to be a recording, the son, Will Robinson, remarks that he’s the first human to discover alien intelligence. Robot has a major upgrade it seems! We’re then treated to a lot of landscape shots, action scenes and general panic and chaos.

Since I’ve never seen the original, I can’t comment on how it will compare. But in the age of reboots, this doesn’t look too bad! At least the quality seems rather consistent in style. It’s intriguing and definitely offers up space and family drama. It seems like the showrunners have a much bigger budget than the original show so the special effects will be on full display as well! And with that budget, how much will change? We’ll have to wait and see.

Check out the trailer below and tell us what you think. Do you think it will compare to the original at all? Are you intrigued as well? Be sure to come back to Geek Girl Authority for more news on Lost in Space.

The Robinson family, part of a highly trained mission to establish a new colony in space, is unexpectedly pulled off course forcing them to crash land on a lost planet. Danger will find them.

Lost in Space debuts on Netflix on April 13th.
