Robert Pattinson is Warner Bros’ pick to star as Bruce Wayne in The Batman according to Deadline. WB execs met on Thursday and made their final decision. Variety reports that Pattinson has signed a deal with the studio.

The next Batman movie will begin production this fall with Matt Reeves directing the film. This version of Bruce Wayne called for an actor in his early 30s. Much different from the two previous older versions. Pattinson, 33, and Nicholas Hoult, 29, were announced as the front runners for the part earlier this month. Reeves’ pick has been Pattinson all long, but the studio wanted to see more of Hoult on tape.

Fans had a lot to say about Pattinson after he was named as one of the final two. It seems that fans were not big on Pattinson taking over the role as Bruce Wayne based solely on his work on the Twilight Saga. Many industry critics defended the choice because of Pattinson’s work after Twilight. Pattinson went on to do more serious roles to hone his acting skills.
