This is one mashup that we didn’t see coming. A couple weeks ago, the Internet let out a collective sigh of relief when the trailer for Suicide Squad was released. Fans everywhere were thinking, “It’s good. It’s actually pretty darn good!” Critics had a hard time bashing (although they put up a valiant effort) the trailer.
The one sentiment that everyone seemed to agree upon was that the Suicide Squad trailer had the best used of Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody since Wayne’s World. It matched so perfectly to the trailer that YouTube user The Unusual Suspect thought “Hey, that’s awesome. Do you know what would be more awesome? Using Bohemian Rhapsody for a Lord of the Rings Trilogy trailer and do the trailer using the Suicide Squad trailer’s tone. We’ll call it Ring Squad!!!”
Well, that may not have been the exact line of thinking but the result is incredibly fun. LOTR suddenly turns into a comedy of farts and bad timing – and that’s always fun. Plus, props to The Unusual Suspect. Going through approximately 10 hours of LOTR footage is hard enough, but then editing the footage to music is not easy and a lot of work.
